Pioneering Zambian radio presenter Jimmy Kay's radio show 'Real Talk' recently won a ZARA Award (Zambia Radio Award) for Best Talk Show. A trophy that was one of over 13 all rounded up by Hot FM.

This comes after the popular radio program expanded its reach when it was taken up by DSTV's Zambezi Magic as one of their newest radio shows on Zambezi Radio. On Real Talk, Jimmy fearlessly addresses issues affecting the daily lives of ordinary people seeking answers. Name it: love, family, marriage, sex; the Rated 18+ talk is nothing short of boldness. This is a trait that has had Jimmy gathering up thousands of listeners.

I have never considered my self as the best but I consider my self as one of the most passionate people about Christian radio

In his own words, "This can only be by the grace of God , the love and support of our listeners. I have never considered my self as the best but I consider my self as one of the most passionate people about Christian radio. My passion for radio has never been motivated by money but by love. I always say that Humility is to acknowledge that what you are and what you have become is by the grace of God and the people that God has used to open doors for you."

The Zambia Radio Award show did have it's fair share of drama when some winners of the awards returned their trophies as they expected certificates from the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) which apparently was not even part of the organizing team. Luckily nothing went out of hand. This was also followed by appeals to make the award more comprehensive in terms of award categories and there were calls for improvement in adjudication. But well, you can't please the whole crowd right? This stuff always happens.

Otherwise, congratulations to Jimmy Kay on this great achievement and incredible contribution to radio in Zambia, and safe to say...Africa.
